The Captain is a guy who has been every crazy "Captain Such-And-Such" name the Marvel Universe has ever had. As evidenced in his conversation with Elsa. He's new.
I thought the strikethru text was supposed to indicate that Carol was omitting that text from her blog entry but keeping the dialogue intact otherwise. It did seem like a really bad way to accomplish that point, though... so maybe you're right.
