In the Chuck Jones Looney Tunes classic
Robin Hood Daffy, there's a scene right at the beginning where Daffy--whilst strumming a lute, the cornerstone for a good comedic routine--trips over his own feet and falls off a cliff into a lake. Then, as he's climbing out, the shot switches to Porky Pig, laughing hysterically.
Then he stops, and a single tear rolls down his cheek. And then he's right back to laughing.
That is
exactly what happened when I saw this panel from 1965's
Adventure Comics #330:
(Click to elongate enlarge)Ha-ha, very funny. Ho-ho, it is to laugh.
You used the word "whilst". Awesome. That is definately one word that needs to be used more in everyday conversation.
ReplyDelete"OOOORP!" is the only thing one can say when being punched by Elongated Man.
ReplyDeleteSomewhat on topic, I am SO waiting for the Looney Tunes Golden Collection to come out with figures for that episode, like they've done with "What's Opera, Doc?" and such. A Robin Hood and Friar Tuck set? I'd be so there.
ReplyDeleteThose figures are ridiculously expensive.
ReplyDeleteBut so, so beautiful.
Thank you for the article, very useful piece of writing.
