The Panels That Made A Man Out Of Chris!
I've mentioned it briefly before here on the ISB, but I frigg'n love the Rocketeer. He is, after all, a guy with a jetpack who flies around fighting Nazis, and there are at least three things in that sentence that I like to see in my comics.
Even so, I only have vague memories of the movie and up until recently, I hadn't read too many of the comics. So from where, you may well ask, do my fond memories come?
Answer:
Russ Heath drawing six panels of Jennifer Connelly pulling on her stockings and putting on lipstick. For this, Peter David, Young Chris will always be thankful.

Today at con my boss totally freaked out when he found a stash pile of Rocketeer comics.
They were under a table of Heavy Metal magazines.
...
Your story is much better.

This post certainly explains a lot.

That would be cooler if she actually looked like Jennifer Connelly...or Bettie Page...

You really haven't read too many of the comics if you're scanning anything not drawn by Dave Stevens; After Stevens' original, any other Rocketeer panel, any other attempt at Betty cheesecake, is like expecting uncut Heroin and getting diet Coke instead. The decaf diet coke.

I agree with Dotan. Sweet Dave Stevens art is the only way that you should look at The Rocketeer

Gotta agree with Dotan and Looney. The original is far above and beyond anything else.

But... but Chris didn't have those comics when he was a kid. He talked about the one he did have.

Well, at least Mark got the point...

Breasts + Legs + Young Chris Sims + A Lockable Door = You people just don't get it, do you?

Doesn't matter. This is inexcusable. I want to see talk about how Chris would later see Requiem for a Dream and never be able to watch The Rocketeer in the same light again.
And also talk about Dave Stevens.

My first exposure with Rocketeer was the Dave Stevens comic, but I am an old fart.
That said, don't run down Russ Heath stuff! He's cool too!!!

Yeah, I get it...coming of age and all that. Not to be off comics for a minute, but for those of you who want to see a lot more of Jennifer Connelly, you must rent the movie Mulholland Falls.
Word.

Don't mind if I do! Aren't we being a bit touchy?
No pun intended.
Also - no knock at all on Russ Heath. I dig it.

You found inferior issues sexy?!? Taste my fury!!!
Build a time machine and rectify these sexy, sexy wrongs!!!
And then next time talk more about characters I like that begin with S, like Steel and Super-Skrull!
And then lick Dave Stevens' boots!
OR ELSE!!!
... and next time make sure the random word verification thingy generates something easier to read...

Russ Heath was a decent artist for War or Adventure comics, but no so much for the Cheesecake stuff. You can't Not Compare this to Dave Stevens, cus Rocketeer was His baby. That being said, Stevens Rocketeer was Far Superior. I do seem to remember a Heath Pin-Up in the 1st Rocketeer Graphic Novel with a really cool Gee-Bee!
