The Panels That Made A Man Out Of Chris!
I've mentioned it briefly before here on the ISB, but I frigg'n love the Rocketeer. He is, after all, a guy with a jetpack who flies around fighting Nazis, and there are at least three things in that sentence that I like to see in my comics.
Even so, I only have vague memories of the movie
and up until recently, I hadn't read too many of the comics. So from where, you may well ask, do my fond memories come?Answer:
Russ Heath drawing six panels of Jennifer Connelly pulling on her stockings and putting on lipstick. For this, Peter David, Young Chris will always be thankful.

You really haven't read too many of the comics if you're scanning anything not drawn by Dave Stevens; After Stevens' original, any other Rocketeer panel, any other attempt at Betty cheesecake, is like expecting uncut Heroin and getting diet Coke instead. The decaf diet coke.

Doesn't matter. This is inexcusable. I want to see talk about how Chris would later see Requiem for a Dream and never be able to watch The Rocketeer in the same light again.

My first exposure with Rocketeer was the Dave Stevens comic, but I am an old fart.
That said, don't run down Russ Heath stuff! He's cool too!!!

Russ Heath was a decent artist for War or Adventure comics, but no so much for the Cheesecake stuff. You can't Not Compare this to Dave Stevens, cus Rocketeer was His baby.That being said, Stevens Rocketeer was Far Superior. I do seem to remember a Heath Pin-Up in the 1st Rocketeer Graphic Novel with a really cool Gee-Bee!
