Bonus Content Update: Sims vs. RomComs!

The big news today, of course, is that I have once again been passed over to judge the Eisner Awards. As you no doubt agree, this is a travesty of the highest order.

But at least I've got this:

Yes, the new CRACKED Magazine hit comic book stores and fine bookshops today, and once you plunk down your $3.99--or a mere $11.99 for a one-year subscription--you can enjoy all new comedy from Jay Pinkerton, Mike Nelson and Maddox, along with the first print appearance of Ye Olde Comick Booke Blogge's Jake Bell and a parody of The New Yorker that cracked me up for about two minutes.

More importantly--at least for me--is the fact that you can flip to page 68 and read two all-new pages of ISB-approved Chris Sims comedy. Like last month, it's a roundup of a handful of genre pictures, but instead of Christmas movies, I grit my teeth through eight romantic comedies and manage to only drop the f-bomb once.

And if you can't see the comedic potential of taking a guy known primarily for reviewing comics where people get kicked in the face a lot and getting him to review My Best Friend's Wedding and Failure to Launch, then check your webshooters at the door, buster.

So go buy it! And now, if you'll excuse me, that new Castlevania ain't gonna play itself.

So Chris, you have a DS. Did you check out the new Yoshi's Island? It must be sweet.

Having a DS myself, I clicked on the Castlevania link, scrolled down and was amused by Amazon's Product Description: "Take control of two heroes, Jonathan Morris, a vampire killer and his close friend Charlotte Orlean, a girl with tremendous magical ability. ...and David and Charlotte are all that stand in their way."

Firstly, is it David or Jonathan?

Secondly, Jonathan Morris?!? Does he do amusing voices for animals? Or did he used to be in Bread? (One for all the Brits out there, methinks).

But there's only whipping in Castlevania, no kicking or hitting. This isn't right!!!

Incidentally, I wrote a Chick Flick article and sent in, but it was rejected because "We already have Chris Sims doing a piece on chick flicks."

Great minds or something like that.

Now I'm going to go write something about the Legion kicking Tarot in the face.

I haven't gotten to see it yet -- Is my guide to the new video game systems in there or have they seen me for the hideous sham that I am?

Julian: I do indeed, but I've never been a fan of the Yoshi's Island games, owing to the fact that Yoshi's Island attempted to annoy you into finishing it by featuring a crying baby. I can only take that for about two minutes before I start throwing controllers.

Nimbus: According to the instruction manual, the characters are Jonathan Morris and Charlotte Aulin. It's comforting to know in these troubled times that we can still have trouble getting the proper names for video game characters on Amazon.

Jake: That's cool, I'm going to write about how Avengers Unplugged was totally "Airwolf."

Get it? "Airwolf!" Ha ha!

MW: Didn't see it, but I haven't read through the whole thing yet. If it's in there, though, I'm looking forward to it.
