I'm Blowin' Up All Over The Place!
In an effort to keep from using up the entire world's supply of holiday cheer a mere five days before Christmas, I've decided to take the night off from bringing you the joy of the holiday special. So instead, why don't we take a look at what's going on on the back cover of Antony Johnston and Christopher Mitten's Wasteland #5, from Oni Press?

Yes, apparently the things I said about the last issue were so nice that, for the first time ever, the good folks at Oni had to put them onto the comic itself. And for me at least, that's pretty rad.
So you should probably buy that comic. I hear it's very rich.

Were you trying to be funny in that quote? cos it seemed like you were saying, you always read wasteland standing up first (as a matter of principle?), then you sit down and read it again. That is kinda odd. But also funny.

I like how they just stick in a quote and put "Chris Sims" after it with no indication of who you are and why your view should matter. Unless the potential buyer is a fan of the ISB, they're gonna wonder who the hell this Chris Sims guy is. Is he just some random ol' bloke off the street?

Anon: No, I meant that I can't wait to sit down and read it again from beginning to end once it's all out. Maybe "sit down and read it again" is a phrase unique to my friends?
Nimbus: I really, really like the idea of some guy going: "Who's this Chris Sims they're quoting?" and one of my near-dozens of readers going: "Dude, if you have to ask..."
Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that will never, ever happen. Oh well!

Yeah, I saw that yesterday when I bought the issue. It was almost enough to make me put it back down. I mean, if Chris Sims endorses a book, it has to suck, right?
I'm very disappointed in Oni, Antony Johnston, Christopher Mitten, and comics in general. It's just shameful.

Okay, this is very, very cool! And on a larger scheme, I very much love that Oni is paying attention to the comics blogosphere. This isn't just good for CHRS-NVCBL, it's good for all of us who of us who love comics, and who put our opinions out there on the webs. It means that folks are paying attention!
It also means that folks at Oni likely know much, much more about Jim Balent's fantasy sex life then they ever wanted to know.

I'm 100% in the "Dude, if you have to ask..." camp. Plain and simple, they should just *know*. Bad enough my other fangirl friend and I have to always stop and explain to people what the ISB is whenever we're discussing throwing car batteries at each other.
