Allow me, if I may, to draw your attention to this panel from The Jughead Jones Comics Digest #25:



To the left, you'll notice Big Ethel, operating under the mistaken assumption that Jughead, Riverdale's notorious misogynist, had been rebuking her advances all these years because he was just into Latinas. Which is why she's speaking broken English and dressing like a flamenco dancer.

And to the right, you'll see Jughead's new Spanish tutor, Maria Rodriguez, staring at her in abject horror.

Conclusion: Riverdaleans are very forgiving of this sort of thing.
