A Slight Delay

I'll be honest with you folks: As much as it might not look like it, I was up until four in the morning drawing "Civil War in 30 Seconds," which has left me in no condition to write comics reviews tonight.

So, in the grand Civil War tradition, I'm delaying the Week in Ink until tomorrow. But just so it's not a total loss, here's a scene from the 30 Second Recap that got cut. Or possibly not drawn until just now:

Tomorrow: Reviews!

That poor jet pilot. Back at the base, the rest of the SHIELD agents were probably all, "Dood, Captain America totally pwned you!"

So where does this fit in in previous continuity? ;)

Love the "danger zone" reference.

Top Gun is a far more enjoyable movie if, every time Kenny Loggins starts playing, you mentally (or verbally) replace the phrase "danger zone" with the word "testicles." So "High-way to the...danger zone!" becomes "high-way to the...testicles!" You can even change up the other words, perhaps to "balls, balls, pe-nis, testicles!" or "chest hair, biceps, testicles!"

Not only does this make the movie more entertaining, but it helps to underscore the "totally not gay" rivalry between Maverick and Iceman, the "not homoerotic at all" relationship between Maverick and Goose, the "no, it's not significant that the love interest has a male name" romance between Maverick and Charlie, and the "no, I mean, well...okay, yeah, this is pretty much gay softcore porn" shirtless volleyball scene. It adds a whole new level to Tom Cruise's incredibly heterosexual magnum opus.

That's some good penciling! Some artists today draw their subjects overmuscular.

-Totally- digging on the mini-Helicarrier in the back, there. Cap surfing on the jet is almost the equal of Snake Plisken surfing in Escape from LA. -Almost.-

One idea goin' round is that Steve will have to wear the Iron Man armor and lead the Mighty Avengers. I suggest that, if true, to reflect his extremeness he ought to line the inside with six million little spikes, for all the people who died in the Holocaust. And a couple of really big spikes to represent the buildings that got damaged in that last battle. That would be XTREEEEEME!

If that's true about Cap wearing the armor, what do you want to bet his first mission is to go after Bucky/Winter Soldier? And then the whole thing will end up with Bucky, dead, again....

Cap wearing the armour...Okaaay. I'm suprised that no-one has mentioned Frank Castle's role in all of this.

Remember, the Punisher doesn't believe that Steve Rogers is really Cap., because he doesn't believe there is such a thing as THE Captain America. It's just (he thinks) a costume that's handed from one guy to another. And in CW7 we see him picking up Cap's cowl with a thoughtful look on his face...

If Steve Rogers ends up wearing an iron suit, I think we can look forward to Frank in the red white and blue!

Yeah, but is it really being pwned if it's done to you by one of the (Civil War #7 notwithstanding) most badass guys ever?

That drawing's awesome. Chris, why weren't you put in charge of Civil War in the first place?
